Wild Goatravel Feature: Frog and Fern

We love Mountains that is truer than true and we believe Zimbabwe has some of the most stunning mountain landscapes in Southern Africa that could be just for you (Yes that rhymed).

One of these stunning landscapes is the Chimanimani Mountains which is commonly known as a beautiful hiking destination with stunning mountainous grass lands, crystal clear waters flowing down, cutting their way through rocks and cascading down waterfalls. If you ever wanted to explore freely in wild mountains this is the place for you.

Frog and Fern is the perfect spot to do this from, not just because we love the name but because it has rustic warm cottages to call home while you explore to your hearts content. In their own words “Frog & Fern Cottages are set in the village once known as Melsetter. They are 18km from CMNP Base Camp, 3km from Bridal Veil Falls and share a common boundary with the Eland Sanctuary. This location is perfect for walking locally or for getting prepared for a serious hike into the Chimanimani Mountains. Frog & Fern provides quality self-catering accommodation in 3 stone, thatch and wood cottages housing a maximum of ten people at any one time.

The lodge has five self-catering cottages with an increased max occupancy for all your Wild Goatribe mates. The cottages are well equipped with warm fires and designed to be you rustic home. The two new cottages Tree Fern and Pips’ Palace are great new additions, check out them out below. Don’t feel like cooking no problem chef Jose is more than happy to chef it up for you.

The team at Frog and Fern are great to interact with and available to help you book a bird or hiking guide, who in turn will show you the undiscovered magic secrets of the Chimanimani or get you your lifers (birders you know what we are talking about).

It really is just waiting for you to get out and explore.

See you in the mountains Wild Goatribe.
